PARAGLIDING

Postby DR KOKIL AGARWAL » Sat Feb 18, 2017 2:29 pm

Have you tried this amazing water sport. Here you wear a parachute attached to a motor boat. The boat takes you to the center of the ocean and it is then that the parachute is released.

No doubt you are still attached to the boat but at a height of hundred meters away from the water level. The sight from above is mesmerizing. Alll you see above is blue sky and underneath is blue water.

It is an experience that one should really have in a lifetime. I have tried it here in India as well as abroad.

Here in my area that sport is practiced a lot since it's a tourists place and the beaches are the most popular scene here. I have scene many people try it but I haven't myself after these few years of living here I think its time. It looks so fun and I know it will be an experience I will never forget although I am afraid of heights. My cousin tried it and she said she wasn't as afraid as she thought she would be instead it felt very nice.

Paragliding I thought was not exactly a watersport. However, the pilot gets to hang from the harness and glide over in the air. I was planning to paraglide but it was closed during the month that we had gone. So I was unlucky in that.

It looked so easy and fun so I had tried that once by joining a tour. Was paired with an instructor thought it would be totally safe.

At the first attempt the wind was not strong enough we failed to jump off the slope on top of hill.

Waited for a while at the second attempt the jump off was success. I spent some time in the air and enjoyed a bit. However wind condition is not good - light wind plus unstable direction so we're forced to land on a open space with rocky ground... cross wind came and I failed to land with my bare knees acting as brake. Once it stopped I managed to stand and found bleeding from my knees and feet. Blacked out in a second and was sent to hospital. So scared I would lose my legs as wound was just too bad I couldn't check whether there's any problem in bones. Anyway it took me a month and finally I was able to walk again...

Yup that could be dangerous! Whether I will do that again? Maybe.

True.. you cannot do paragliding if you are afraid of heights. It is a sport that requires no fear of water as well as being suspended high in the air.
Floating i air at a high speed also requires a great effort.

You are correct I think. It is not basically a water sport as it involves suspension in a air as well. It is real fun but still needs a lot of brave efforts. I wish you the best of luck.

I love this activity but unfortunately I still have to try it. There is paragliding in some upscale water resorts here but the fee is very expensive. For half an hour of paragliding or jetski or wakeboarding, it will cost you $50 at the least and some resorts charge more. I have seen the young generation doing paragliding and I'm sure it's a wonderful feeling to feel like flying over water.

It indeed is no less than a pleasure. It gives an amazing feel while floating in the sky with a bed of water underneath. It is not something that is out rightly very expensive so please do give it a try whenever possible.

Paragliding is something my son keeps trying to talk me into doing. He has went many times and said how beautiful the experience was, and he wanted me to do it with him sometime. I on the other hand am a little afraid of heights, and it scares me a bit. If I can get over my fear of being in the air I would love to do this with my son someday. Everyone that I know who has done this said it was amazing.
