There is no driving test before you get a driving license so anyone who knows even a mere about driving gets on the road. Henceforth you can imagine the condition of traffic here.

Ha ha.. Yes I am talking about our country only. Well, I know the conditions here are quite bad. Though thing have been improved in compare to past, but still there are many drivers who not used to follow the rules at all. Yes for getting driving license, procedure should be change and should be strict so that we can avoid this.

Here in my city the condition is still very pathetic. At times it appears that there are no traffic rules that ever exist. Every person drives in accordance to his will. The oarking conditions are so bad that parking a car is no less than a nightmare.

In that case the police are even the problem instead of finding solution they are collecting bribe to further worsen the traffic situation. One reason why traffic violations shouldn't be handled with kid gloves is because injuries or life maybe at risk.

Wow, I am unable to stop my smile reading this thread as I live in both conditions, one- where no one cares to follow the traffic rules and the other where no one cares to go against them. Yes, it's very much possible like going against the traffic even on highways. Sometimes I feel that the Indian drivers would pass any driving tests in the world because they know how to drive in worst traffic conditions.

Same goes for my city as well. Specially the parking sense. No one cares about others. Here people used to park their car in front of our gate. They don't even care that how we will move out our cars. They just park it and move around for their work. :x

I is kind of irritating stuff.

Ha ha.. Yes perfect. Because many people don't care about rules here people became expert drivers for sure and can any worse condition. Though it is indirectly good but quite irritating for sure. Here we have to keep checking other vehicles than our own during driving.

Whenever I travel to another country, I also always try and follow all the rules. Here in the UK, we have a busy tourist industry and when people from other countries come here I would also expect them to follow our laws, so that's only fair that I follow theirs.

Having said that though, in some countries that I have been to that's easier said than done and especially when it comes to driving. Some countries roads are a free-for-all and I'm not even sure the people who live there actually know what the rules are, so tourists have no chance!

Yup. I don't know when this situation will change. The change has to come for both people and the police. People should obey laws and stay true their integral values and the police as well. Even with media's and the government taking so many steps for creating awareness the situation is not changing. :|

In most accidents I have had so far in India it was never me on the wrong end but I tried my best to avoid it. And it proves by the fact that most accidents I was involved with were when I was tackled from wrong side someone coming from my left side. I wanted to save myself going to my natural side the left and someone trying to overtake me from left side crashed into me. The only thing that saved me was the slow traffic in city area where the speed is never more than 5-6 km/hour where all this happened.

Well, this is common problem for sure. Yes people used to take overtake from wrong side. And it cause accident many times. I wonder why people do that and can't even wait for proper side. Even after accident if we tell them that they were on wrong side, they will not hear to us at all and keep telling our faults.

Traffic offences are not issues to be handled with levity. The consequences could be dreadful. It is so unfortunate that even the police would because of pennies allow traffic law offenders go free.
