Planning the meals

Postby Alexandoy » Tue Jun 27, 2017 12:05 pm

When we go on a road trip especially when with our relatives, we would hire a big van so all of us will be together during the trip. We bring along some snacks and an ice chest for the drinks. But for our meals, we always have a plan on where to take breakfast, where to have lunch, etc. It is like having a schedule which makes the children very excited since we always eat in good eateries during a road trip.

Even I prefer to eat at the road side destinations. I take along snacks of needed but as far as meals are concerned I prefer freshly cooked and properly served food at the eating joints only.

When we go with our aunt family all my cousins will come and we travel to places in a big group which will be pretty exciting. So, I and my brother will look up on some good restaurants the day before itself so that we can have an amazing meal on the journey. It is always exciting.

In the road trips I have taken with my family snack and drinks are always taken. What we love to do especially when it comes to dinner is build a fire and cook food on it. Sometimes my aunt would take her big pot to cook a big amount of chicken soup in it. Yes. We also like going to near by restaurants which are actually very good and sometimes get to try something new.

You reminded me of our Indian sponsored community trips that we do by hiring 32 seater deluxe coaches. We take two helpers along with us who take care of serving the prepared food and make tea etc where ever we find a suitable place on the way. Most of such trips are of maximum 2 days duration and we always book a place to stay overnight in advance. Everyone participating in these trips is required to take their own plates and mugs etc.

I always have fun planning meals for such road trips. There are a lot of meals that you can have cold so you can still be able to enjoy a healthy meal on the road. Of course if you know where you're going and you're sure there are places that serve affordable and healthy hot meals, then that might be a better option for you and you can just cut down on costs by carrying your own snacks and drinks instead.

I can say that on all my road trips, this is my weakest aspect. :(

I mean... I love eating (Oh God... how I love this! ), but I don't like the part of having to plan this. I remember that I've been through a lot of funny situations because of that (including running out of food for a while because I ate it all without calculating the correct ranges  ).

Well, if you are having good restaurants and other things during road trips then it is okay. But here I don't find good place to eat with all my trips. so that time we took home made food with us for that road trip. Like this we can have home made healthy food instead of eating to any unknown place where quality not getting maintained.

Well, I don't exactly plan as to where I shall be eating whie on the road. I do carry my own snacks just in case of emergencies and explore eating places on the road sides.

Where ever I feel it is hygienic enough, I would eat. It would also depend on my time and when I feel hungry.
