Sprain in legs

Have you ever faced a severe pain in legs because of a muscle sprain while climbing.

Muscle sprains can be really painful and in some cases the amount of pain is equivalent to a fracture. Keeping the foot on the ground seems impossible.

What will you do in such a situation? Do you know of any measure that can be taken so as to relieve the muscle pain.

I used to suffer sprains on my foot when I was playing basketball in my younger years. But with climbing, the usual health issue that I encounter is pulled muscle. Especially the lower back muscles, they are susceptible to pains due to sudden movement particularly when I carry heavy things. In fact, I had a pulled muscle on my back last week when we were on our way from Japan. I had to carry the heavy bags to the train station for the airport and that pulled muscle got me. With climbing, I always make it a point to be relaxed because when I am tense then it is conducive to pulled muscle.

I usually get muscle cramps while swimming. Never had one while climbing. It is not news though that a muscle cramp can occur after walking on for a long period due to built up of lactic acid.

The best is to reat the leg and take deep breathes to allow aerobic respiration cycle to resume and relieve the lactic acid load.
