Honestly, I don't give a damn what brand of bike I'm going to use. I don't care about modern style or things like that, the only thing I really care about (and I'll not give it away) is quality.
This usually implies paying a more expensive value for a good bike, but... It's better to spend a little more to have a good quality product, than to pay cheap and have a good headache later.

Haha, so nice way to start a thread, and I am with you all the way, I don't care about the brand, but just good quality. Just recently I bought a bike that had Shimano parts, but guess what, it was purchased in a big surface and it was poorly assembled, so the result is a bad bike. I don't want to pay for the a brand, I want to pay for the bike, but even so I will always buy mine in a specialized shop, no way around that.
I love most outdoor activities!

That is true that brand tag will surely increase the price of the product than normal, and specially when brand is popular. For me even I don't think about branding stuff more if I am getting same quality product without famous branding and in low cost. Pricing is important too. But yes I will not compromise with the quality for sure.

I think brand of a bike is very important. Brand assures quality. Moreover parts of a branded bike is easily available with easy service. It also has many perks like gurantee warranty etc.

I may not be very keen on the brand of the bike but rather its style, durability and strength. Most often this eventually translates into a brand. Either way, it should be comfortable and fit for various tracks.
Re: Do you think the brand of a bike is important?
I think it would be of importance because of many factors which sum down to key three factors. The first key factor would be the reputation of the brand which presents itself in its products, brand use and most of all customer satisfaction. The second key factor that could be in use is the fact of how the brand presents itself in the product due to its style, authenticity and durability of its products. Third is the type of product that the brand advertises letting consumers know what type of bike that they sell so that more consumers will be attracted and draw more people of the target market to the types of bikes that the company sells. Knowing these factors could be an important part of why a the brand of a bike is an important part to know when having a bike.

For me, the brand isn't all that important if you're just going to be using the bike for general use, but for any more heavy duty trips or if you're going to be using the bike a lot, then a more expensive brand would be worth considering.
These days, with a lot of things just because you pay more, doesn't necessarily mean that you get more, but when it comes to bikes I do think that by paying extra and buying a reputable brand it can be worthwhile in the long run.

Yes quality is important. But these days we can also have good quality with new brands which are not popular. So that we can get deal in good deal. About parts, I guess these days we new companies keep all these things in mind, so it will be not a problem as far as I know.
Re: Do you think the brand of a bike is important?
To me, quality is more important than brand and it should be worth the money that I am investing. Moreover, some branded bikes will be too good from the outside to buy but there will be a lot of complaints after buying. I will thoroughly investigate before buying and then give it a shot.

I'm not much with biking and I'm not familiar with bikes either although I have been to bike shops to help a niece buy a bike. With the brand, I'd say that it matters because trusted brands have been tested by time. A new brand can cause you problems. When my wife bought a bike some 15 years ago, she was in a hurry and chose the cheap bike in the shop. After a month of use, the bike's wheel was showing some problems already.
